Child Development Advisor (CDA)

Under the direction of the principal, and as part of the Comprehensive Guidance and Counselling Team, the Child Development Advisor (CDA) assists in the development and implementation of programs to support the students within the school in the following domains: academic, social/emotional and career.

The CDA is involved in the following:

  • Creating a positive school climate and culture
  • Individual interventions and group work addressing organizational skills, study skills, peer relationships, conflict resolution, self-esteem, and anxiety.
  • Helping with the observation and collection of data on individual students
  • Collaborating with the School Resource Team to assist with the implementation of educational action plans for individual students
  • Liaising between school staff, parents, and outside agencies
  • Crisis intervention
  • Facilitating peer supports
